My name is Jairus—rhymes with Paris—and I am a passionate safety management professional dedicated to championing workplace health and safety. My journey in this vital field began at Slippery Rock University in 2016, where I proudly earned my bachelor’s degree in safety management. Following graduation, I was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in the United States Army, an experience that strengthened my leadership abilities through rigorous training, mission command, and responsibility for the safety and performance of others.During my military service, I continued my academic pursuits by earning a master’s degree in criminal justice from Slippery Rock University. After completing my honorable service, I embarked on a new academic chapter, pursuing a doctorate in instructional management and leadership at Robert Morris University. My dissertation examined hospital-based nurses’ perceptions of how organizational culture and leadership influence safety, further reinforcing my commitment to people-centered, systems-based safety leadership.Today, I have returned to Slippery Rock University as an instructor, where I have the privilege of sharing my professional experiences and academic knowledge with the next generation of safety professionals. In the classroom, I focus on equipping students with the practical skills, leadership capabilities, and professional competencies necessary to succeed in the evolving field of safety management.My ultimate goal is to leverage my education, leadership experience, and passion for teaching to inspire and empower others to create safer organizations and advance the health, safety, and well-being of every worker.
