About Jaime Ramirez-Mendoza
As a first-generation, low-income, bilingual Latino from rural California, my journey through the education system fuels my commitment to bridging research and policy to make education systems more accessible and affordable for historically excluded populations. My professional experience spans holistic advising with students via Upward Bound, the Educational Opportunity Program, and Destination College Advising Corps; racial equity-focused policy analysis at The Education Trust, where I led initiatives on financial aid, free college policies, and support for undocumented students; and quantitative research at TICAS, contributing to policy briefs on racialized economic mobility. My qualitative research experience includes designing protocols, interviewing stakeholders, and applying various coding methods to synthesize findings for policy briefs and academic papers.My Ph.D. research further supports this mission, blending my quantitative and qualitative skills with a deep understanding of systemic barriers to improve college affordability and access.
