Biomedical engineer with deep expertise in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, immunology, materials science, and drug delivery, combined with a strong track record in innovation sourcing, due diligence, and investment. At Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), I led the Cell Therapy Program and defined the program’s strategic priorities, led funding opportunity sourcing and evaluation, and managed a multimillion-dollar portfolio of academic and industry partnerships covering multiple scientific disciplines spanning early discovery, preclinical, and early clinical development with the goal of accelerating the development and translation of cell therapies to cure Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). I also contributed to the Improving Lives Program’s goal of advancing next-generation Artificial Pancreas/Automated Insulin Delivery systems and have given talks across the globe in both English and Spanish on the state of T1D research and innovation for a variety of expert and lay audiences. I am passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship, and translating cutting-edge science into impactful solutions to improve human health.
