Jahna Berry is a dynamic executive and change catalyst. As a c-level leader, Jahna is passionate about leading creative and mission-driven organizations that are fiscally strong and deeply connected to employees, audiences, donors, and clients. Jahna is also an experienced executive coach. In her consulting practice, she helps rising leaders who are LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC get senior-level roles. Jahna oversees strategic initiatives, external communications, revenue operations, online membership initiatives and manufacturing at The Center for Investigative Reporting. CIR produces Mother Jones, a legendary investigative journalism publication, the Reveal news podcast and radio show, as well as documentaries like The Grab. CIR reaches an audience of 10 million each month across print, video, audio, newsletters, and social media platforms. The Center for Investigative Reporting and Mother Jones merged in February 2024 and Jahna oversees the integration. Jahna joined Mother Jones a few weeks before the 2020 pandemic lockdowns in the U.S, and since then she’s increased revenue from sponsored content, subscriptions, and email newsletters; oversaw the transition from an in-person events program to a virtual events program that reached larger audiences; and led a human resources overhaul that increased the number BIPOC hires, launched a DEI roadmap, and spearheaded more equitable compensation processes.Jahna has a decade of experience in management and senior level roles at major media companies with millions of readers, including WIRED. She loves working as a COO, which allows her to leverage the skills she’s honed as an award-winning reporter, editor, product director, and executive coach. Jahna is a speaker and moderator who enjoys sharing her expertise about managing teams, hiring and retention, DEI in the workplace, and coaching rising BIPOC and LGBTQIA leaders.
