ABOUT JAELIN P.
Information is power, and I have always seen the value in both. Growing up before the smart phone, the answer to every question wasn’t at the tip of my fingers. So as a child, I developed a habit of carrying around a notebook that I would fill with the questions I came up with about the world each day. Before I went to bed, my mom would help me look up the answers in a book or on our desktop computer. You could say I am a natural born researcher! I am a deeply empathetic person, and as I grew up I always found myself getting involved in leadership roles to help solve the problems I saw in my surrounding community. As I got older and paid more attention to what was happening in our country, and to politics in general, what I viewed as “my community” expanded. My love for research and background knowledge became even more important as I discovered the truth behind that famous quote: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”. In college, I was chosen as one of seven women from across the country for a fellowship that gave us high-level political training while working for Congress. It was called the Star Fellowship and was run by an organization called Running Start, which works to get more young women involved in politics. I definitely became involved! When I got back from D.C, I changed my major from Deaf Studies (although I am still fluent in ASL!) and graduated with a degree in Political Science with a focus in public policy. I have been working in the political sphere since 2016 and in research for nearly six years. My career has consisted of working in foreign affairs, healthcare advocacy and on mayoral, gubernatorial, senate, and presidential political campaigns. I just finished my most recent contract, working on the official side with the Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro. I served as the temporary Deputy Director of Research and helped operate their robust vetting program. I am now looking for my next opportunity, and am looking to expand my horizons! I want potential employers to know my work ethic and attention to detail are backed up by a genuine love for what I do and a true desire to make the world a better place.
