I worked the grand national festival at Aintree race course. I saw this as a brilliant opportunity to expand my knowledge and gain additional insight into another area of work. During the two days I was trusted to serve alcohol from behind the bar in a fast-paced environment, change barrels and deal with money. One of the more challenging tasks I faced was something that I had not dealt with before; When serving alcohol there were several occasions when drunk customers were getting impatient and rude. On all counts I was able to defuse the situation and continue serving with a smile.
