About Jada Kirkland

Jada Kirkland is the weekend evening producer at WLTX in Columbia, South Carolina. She is also a full-time master\'s student in data communications at the University of South Carolina, and plans to graduate in December 2025. With a passion for journalism, storytelling, and visual media, Jada aspires to work in long-form content as a special projects producer or documentarian. In 2024, she produced, filmed, and edited Fit Check: A Documentary on the History and Impact of the Fashion Show at the University of South Carolina, as part of her senior honors college thesis. She has also interned at South Carolina Public Radio and WIS-TV, where she produced digital stories, conducted interviews, and edited both audio and video content. As an undergraduate research assistant, she contributed to the Connected Civics Research Project, analyzing the intersection of social media use and civic engagement among African American young adults. Beyond the newsroom, Jada is a dedicated leader and mentor. In 2022, she served as vice president of USC’s National Association of Black Journalists chapter. She also mentored minority students through USC’s Multicultural Assistance Peer Program. With a deep love for journalism, videography, and photography, Jada is committed to telling impactful stories that inform and inspire.
