Train, oversee, and manage a team of associates and paralegals representing nationally recognized conglomerates in defending complex product liability matters, construction and New York Labor Law litigation, general liability matters, as well as insurance coverage and indemnification disputes. • Actively manage a portfolio of approximately 50 cases from inception through resolution. Work with in-house counsel and corporate executives to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding a claimed incident to assess and develop all defenses including identifying proper witnesses for testimony and proper documents for discovery exchange, as well as proper objections to disclosure where warranted.• Analyze every avenue for early dismissal and negotiating same prior to filing responsive pleadings including pre-answer motions to dismiss; analyze cases for removal to federal court and, if removal of an action is viable, preparing and filing the appropriate motion.• Draft and argue discovery motions, motions for sanctions, pre-trial motions, motions in limine, motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment. Draft, analyze, and respond to pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, settlement agreements, stipulations, and releases. • Review, analyze, draft, and revise a wide range of contracts.• Prepare lay and expert witnesses for giving testimony at depositions and trials. Conduct and defend depositions of parties, non-parties, and expert witnesses. • Conduct hearings before New York State Supreme and Appellate Courts. Take and defend appeals before the New York State Appellate Divisions.• Engage in private and court-ordered mediations and settlement conferences. • Provide comprehensive client support, communication, and ongoing legal analysis and strategy including preparation of detailed litigation reports in accordance with each client’s reporting guidelines. • Routinely negotiate favorable settlements.
