About Jacqui Pilch

Jacqui rejoined the Department of State in May 2023 to lead the Department\'s efforts in refugee private sponsorship, the boldest innovation in U.S. refugee resettlement since Congress passed the Refugee Act in 1980. Jacqui previously served as the Director for Refugees at the National Security Council from the beginning of the Biden-Harris Administration until March 2023 and is a recognized technical leader on issues related to refugee resettlement, forced migration, immigration law, and humanitarian response. Jacqui brings a solutions-oriented approach to policy-making at the nexus of national and human security to address the challenges of unprecedented global displacement. Jacqui is a dynamic leader with experience conceptualizing and overseeing transformative change in the United States’ response to forced displacement. She is adept at convening and collaborating with diverse stakeholders toward mutually-beneficial outcomes and people-focused policies. She is passionate about reimagining how we welcome newcomers and set them up to contribute and thrive in communities across America. Prior to joining the National Security Council, Jacqui served across the federal government in roles with the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Agency for International Development, as well as with international and non-government organizations. Her assignments have spanned the globe across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Washington, DC.
