About Jacques Pierre
I have been promoting Ayitian Creole and culture for years in the United States as well as in my native land, Ayiti, where my journey as an advocate for the language started. During all these years I have penned articles, books of poems, and editorials to bring the language to everyone who is interested in knowing what Kreyòl is as a language. My several hats as linguist, lexicographer, translator, pedagogue, and transcriber have given me the opportunity to capture the heartbeat of my language while discovering how the language, contrary to what others think, is linguistically apt to use in our school system to build a well-rounded education for all Ayitians.Next month I will start a translation company that will offer services from English and French into Ayitian Creole. This service will give me the opportunity to start a dialogue between Ayitian Creole and the two other languages to help people who speak these languages forge a cultural and linguistic solid bond. I am a Creolist in word and deed. Please join me in moving Kreyòl forward. I love my language to death. An nou viv an kreyòl pou nou sa konstwi yon ekonomi kreyòl kote lavi nou chak chita sou respè pou nanm yonn lòt. Se dwa chak pèp pou li defann lang li, pwodui ladan, ankouraje lòt pèp aprann lang li, edike ak enstwi pitit li yo nan lang li. Tout lang konte. All languages matter.
Experience
Kreyòl Editor for the Journal of Haitian Studies (Johs)
Oct 2012 — Present · US
M edite kèk atik an kreyòl pou Journal of Haitian Studies lè yo mande mwen pou fè sa. M pran plezi nan fè li, yon fason pou m pote kontribisyon m nan chita lang nou an nan espas akademik la. https://haitianstudies.ucsb.edu/journal-of-haitian-studies/editorial-board
