About Jacquelyn Shuman
I am a forest ecologist and ecological modeler with a focus on fire. I have a background in ecosystem modeling, carbon cycle science, ecosystem function, and the impacts of disturbances on ecosystems and society with a specialization in capturing fire behavior and effects. I have experience modeling vegetation dynamics in the high-latitude boreal ecosystems, across the tropics with a focus on South America, and supporting innovative research for proactive wildland fire management across the US. My research is motivated by an interest in the complex organization of vegetation and the interactions and feedbacks between wildfire, the carbon cycle and climate at the local, regional and earth system scales. In addition to my research, I am interested in bringing together groups to identify time-relevant advancements and decrease barriers for the adoption of innovative technologies. Interests: vegetation modeling, wildland fire, tropical systems, high latitude environments, climate
