ABOUT JACQUELINE W.
Jacqueline is a native of Oakland, California.After receiving her B.S. in Criminal Justice at Grambling State University in 1997, Ms. Williams began her legal career in law enforcement as a Juvenile Corrections Officer in Atlanta, Georgia. She later attended law school at the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she served as a staff writer on the law school\'s Law Review. After graduating with Honors, she served the residents of Kings County as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York. After her tenure as a prosecutor, she opened a criminal defense firm in New York City, and later relocated to the District of Columbia. In her current practice, she zealously pursues justice for persons accused of crimes within the district, and represents individuals with civil rights and employment related matters. In 2014, she was appointed by District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray, to serve as a Commissioner on the District of Columbia Commission on Re-Entry and Returning Citizens Affairs. Commissioner Williams serves as Secretary for the Commission, and works diligently to help align and leverage resources for the reentry community, and tackle systemic issues that affect formerly incarcerated citizens, post-conviction. Attorney Williams will also serve as a volunteer attorney for President Barack Obama and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder\'s \"Clemency 2014\" Initiative which will result in the release of thousands of citizens from the nation’s federal prisons. Attorney Williams proudly serves as an Ambassador and 2015 Society member for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. She was among a handful of young philanthropists who served as the museum’s initial group of ambassadors who secured more than in monetary donations. In 2017, Attorney Williams was the proud recipient of the National Bar Association\'s Rising Star Award. She is licensed to practice law in New York (including the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York) and the District of Columbia.
