As a strong advocate of the NHS in the UK, I am delighted to have been appointed to this position, which gives me the opportunity to articulate, on behalf of patients across the capital, what the \"new\" NHS England structure needs to be facilitating re. access to a more integrated Health Service, based on the recommendations of the Health and Social Care Act 2012. I do not profess to speak \"for\" patients, but will ensure that their views are taken into consideration at decision-making levels, wherever/whenever possible. This will, hopefully, form a part of the new transparency of the NHS in the future. My personal view is that Clinicians and Health Practitioners do not hold the monopoly on what is right for patients, who must be heard, as well as seen. As an Educator, I also see a role for utilising those specific skills, in dissemination of information which affects every member of this very large and diverse metropolis.
