About Jacqueline Kniska
As an expert in highly regulated industries with strong ethical decision-making, business, and legal acumen, I develop compliance, ethics, risk management strategies and roadmaps, policies and procedures, and governance infrastructures to scale effective people-first and risk-reduced organizations.Throughout my career, I have successfully influenced buy-in, adoption of culture change, and engagement in compliance and ethics initiatives in large-scale enterprises. I have also addressed organizational gaps and implemented strategic risk programs at the forefront of complex landmark regulations, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, HITECH, PCI, and GDPR, as well as HIPAA, EMTALA, Physician Payment Sunshine Act, FCA, AKS, STARK, and FCPA. In my recent role as Virginia Commonwealth University’s chief ethics and compliance officer, I led best practices for corporate and regulatory compliance, communication initiatives, KPIs, KRIs, monitoring and reports, emerging risk trend identification, compliance investigations, policy creation, and federal and state mandates across 30 business units. Career accomplishments include-Establishing and growing numerous infrastructures and initiatives to fuel ethics and compliance strategies for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), including the institution’s first annual compliance training and its first interactive digital code of conduct decision-making tool with 70 pages of content and cited resource tools-Securing buy-in from 90 matrixed key opinion leaders at VCU to drive best practices, KPIs, evaluation and clarification of current university risk and ethics policies, and new policy creation for emerging risk trends-Circumventing millions of dollars in government payer penalties and fines for the VCU Health System through process improvements to the system’s workflows, patient communication initiatives for privacy breaches, healthcare costs, and staff training and education.
