Why are you in HR if you have a math degree?” When someone finds out I was a math major, they usually want to know how I ended up in HR. Well, to be honest, I never sought a math degree with the end goal of being a human resources leader. Actually, I went to school with no clear path for my future. I just knew I liked problem solving and math. It was challenging and rewarding. When I got my first corporate role, I was placed on the strategic team because it made sense. I liked numbers, critical thinking, and processes. Yet, I always found myself naturally drawn towards our culture. I would read about how companies were putting their people first and immediately go to my boss asking how we could do the same. I came to realize that my heart was in People & Culture, but decided early on that it would be with a math spin. Being part of HR does not mean giving up my love for problem solving. It simply means using my strategic, analytical brain to design even better programs for our people. By combining these two seemingly opposite worlds, I excel at building and executing on impactful people strategies, designing experiences that cultivate a culture of engaged team members & high performance, acting as a trusted advisor & coach, and developing leaders who leave positive impacts. So it turns out that it\'s the combination of HR & math that allows me to make the biggest difference. This difference that I make for others is what has made me the leader, friend and person that I am today.
