About Jacqueline A. Ennis
Jacqueline A. Ennis is a Brazilian legal scholar based in the United States and Founder of the Johann Christian Hasse Foundation, a U.S. 501(c)(3) dedicated to interdisciplinary research on complex systems and decision-making under conditions of uncertainty. She is the creator of c-ECO (Contractual Equity & Ecological Co-Responsibility), a decisional governance architecture for systemic risk and pre-threshold dynamics in contractual and institutional decision-making. Her work addresses a central limitation of modern law: its reliance on ex post remedies, which intervene only after systemic thresholds have already been crossed. The c-ECO architecture is grounded in more than two decades of entrepreneurial leadership in the Brazilian Amazon (1993–2014), where Ennis founded and managed projects in regions characterized by ecological sensitivity, legal asymmetry, and structural vulnerability. This field experience informs her understanding of contracts as governance structures embedded within living systems, rather than abstract legal instruments detached from material risk.Ennis holds an LL.M. in Business Law from Washington University in St. Louis, with additional legal studies at Boston University, and a law degree from Brazil. She is currently developing applied legal and institutional models based on the c-ECO architecture for the governance of systemic risk across infrastructure, technology, and ecological resilience.Learn | c••••••@c-eco.org
