About Jacob Robinson-Suarez
Jacob Robinson-Suarez (he/him) is a seasoned education leader with 12 years of experience and currently serves as the Senior Managing Director of Educator Program + External Affairs at Teach For America Detroit. He leads work across educator programming and external affairs, overseeing teams that drive educator development, government affairs, and large-scale events—all focused on creating systemic, equity-centered change across Michigan. Over the past six years, Jacob has helped lead key initiatives that resulted in a $35 million investment from the state to support, grow and retain the educator workforce. He holds a B.A. in Communication (Public Relations) from Florida Gulf Coast University, with minors in Psychology and Political Science, and a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Michigan. His work spans anti-racist education, strategy and program design, policy analysis, and is grounded in the belief that authentic relationships are the foundation for meaningful change. Outside of work, Jacob enjoys life with his husband Jesus, their dog Ru, and two cats: Spooky and Zoro. He loves traveling, being outdoors, and exploring Ferndale and Detroit, while staying rooted in his commitment to equity, justice, and joy.
