ABOUT JACOB NAVA-COULTER

I am an experienced accountant with years in Big 4 Public Accounting, startup, publicly traded, and not for profit organizations. I am passionate about my work while being an objective, understanding leader. I combine hands-on experience with my knowledge from building startup accounting infrastructure to execute my philosophy of improvement and scaling. I got my start as a staff auditor with Ernst & Young. Working there was fantastic for me; I was able to obtain my Masters of Science in Accountancy, and my CPA. I performed attest work, and gained experience with a broad range of companies in many industries. Working in teams and with clients was terrific and allowed me to learn and grow. My first startup role was as a staff accountant with Extend Health, Inc. I gained a broad skill set by building processes and accounting infrastructure while wearing many hats as the only staff accountant. I was even able to work on the S-1 that we filed in January 2012. We were purchased in May 2012 by Towers Watson & Co, a great company. I learned quite a bit through facilitating several process transitions. My second startup was MongoDB. I came on as a senior accountant and immediately found lots to learn (fix). I cleaned up a three month accounting backlog, loaded beginning balances into Intacct, and corrected issues which ended up saving the company over $150K. I took pride in our team\'s accomplishments like implementing NetSuite. My favorite work involved creating processes automation that helped our group scale. I wrapped up my startup career as the Accounting Manager at RetailNext, Inc. where I made significant improvements in our function while facilitating international expansion.I am wrapped up my career in the for-profit world as a Lead Accountant at WageWorks where I streamlined many processes and performed key transaction analysis and treatment research.I now lead a team of accountants at the California Academy of Sciences where we\'ve made incredible strides in operational accounting, building trust in our payables cycle and automating transaction processing, as well in financial reporting, moving from a 30+ day close to a 5 day close.System Experience: Microsoft Excel (Level:EPIC)Microsoft Dynamics GP IntacctNetsuiteOracle FusionYardiQuickBooks Online
