About Jacob Moore

I am currently a Production Geologist working in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). First of all, I’ve drilled a TON of wells. And I’ve gotten to work on projects from all over the world including salt tectonics and deep water deposition in the GOM. Need to get down a tough well? I’m your guy. I\'ve had quite a broad career so far, working on projects as diverse as understanding the evolution of Caribbean tectonics to how the relationships between inorganic and organic chemistry affect the distribution of organic material in sedimentary rocks. Did I mention I\'ve got a patent for quantifying TOC in rocks using spectral techniques? Pretty cool huh? Oh, and in a previous life I did high-temperature isotope geochemistry, trying to unravel the constituents of the Reunion mantle plume with all kinds of fancy clean lab work and analytical techniques.

   Production geologist working a greenfield project in the central GOM. The field is in a structurally complex area with limited seismic imaging, leaving a lot of room for geologic creativity. The most important parts of my job are unraveling the complex interplay between salt tectonics and deposition. It hasn\'t been easy, but it has been interesting. I\'ve also been the lead for the multi-well development campaign to produce the field. It\'s been great to work with an interdisciplinary group to make this project a success.
