ABOUT JACOBI JONES

I am an ambitious and driven individual with a passion for aerospace and mechanical engineering. Currently pursuing an engineering degree, I aim to specialize in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. My diverse skill set and dedication have enabled me to excel in various areas. As a Student Pilot License holder, I have completed extensive flight training, accumulating 255.3 hours, including 10.3 flight hours and 245 ground school hours. Additionally, I am an FAA Licensed Drone Pilot with eight years of flight experience, totaling hours. With over 1500 hours of filmmaking experience as an Apple-certified Final Cut Pro filmmaker, I have honed my skills in videography and editing. You can find my work on my YouTube channel, Jacobi Drones. My passion for programming led me to complete a college-level Python course at UMASS and attend a two-week Harvard data science program. Through these experiences, I gained knowledge in Python coding and even participated in 10 coding sessions at the Johns Hopkins University Stem Academy, totaling 140 hours. I am currently an intern at Parsons Corporation, assisting the Mechanical Engineering Department in testing product packaging for the Department of Defense. Throughout my academic journey at Reservoir High School, I have maintained a GPA of 3.39 and actively participated in clubs such as Reservoir Varsity Basketball, Future Business Leaders of America, Film Club, Black Student Union, and Alpha Achievers. My commitment to community service is evident through my involvement in various organizations. As a volunteer at Rainbow Christian Church Food Pantry and the Mending Walls Foundation, I have assisted low-income families and veterans in finding affordable housing and provided food for those in need. I have also worked with the Gateway Second Chance Foundation, training at-risk youth to sell items online and raising over through consigning donated household items. With a strong dedication to education, I have participated in summer programs at the University of Massachusetts and Harvard, as well as attended the Luke Weathers Solo Flight Academy and Aerospace Engineering Camp at Applied Physics Lab. I am proud of my accomplishments and the positive impact I have made through my community service initiatives. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue pursuing my passion for aerospace and mechanical engineering while making a meaningful difference in the world.
