About Jacob Vaughn

Over the course of the Doctoral education from Louisiana State University, I excelled in coursework focusing on diversity (both racial and gender equity related), education, curricular development, and community engagement. Each course concentrated on developing well-rounded leadership qualities that in turn assist in the development of students, faculty members, administrators, and general staff. The curriculum included and covered aspects of program promotion within the community, generating a positive image of the organization, and stimulated educational curriculum in an effort to improve education. This educational pursuit enhanced the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in a range of formats, to plan a project and deliver it to agreed timelines, to work with minimum supervision as well as part of a team, to interact with colleagues from diverse professional backgrounds to successfully work towards common goals, to communicate effectively to a range of audiences, as well as to present and organize large amounts of information in a clear and concise manner. While on active duty in the United States Coast Guard, I had the honor and pleasure of serving with a group of diverse men and women towards the common goal of our unit’s mission. This experience further cultivated my leadership knowledge and skills, as well as my desire to create a positive impact on those around me. As a leader within the facilities engineering department, I set a positive example of professional and academic enrichment. I directed and instructed fellow employees in orientation programs while maintaining a high level of quality and efficiency. I accomplished this by developing and implementing programs to improve the effectiveness of the department and overall operation of the organization, ensuring proficient and adept task completion.
