As Payload Lead, I direct a cross-functional team of engineering students in the design and proposal of our “STEMnaut HAUS” payload for the NASA Student Launch Challenge. My role includes: • Technical Leadership: Defining payload architecture, including soil collection and testing systems, habitat layout, and deployment mechanisms. • Systems Integration: Coordinating CAD modeling (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), electronics, and recovery systems in collaboration with avionics and rocket subteams. • Project Management: Delegating proposal sections, setting deadlines, and ensuring technical accuracy for NASA deliverables. • Proposal Development: Guiding the team in producing professional, technically detailed documentation that communicates design intent, functionality, and feasibility. • Team Growth: Creating a collaborative environment where members build technical skills in CAD, materials selection, and systems thinking.Through this role, I’ve gained experience in aerospace payload design, cross-team coordination, and leadership under real proposal deadlines while contributing to a NASA-reviewed project.
