About Jacob Schwinghammer

My name is Jacob Schwinghammer, a proud 2025 graduate of Saint John’s University with a B.A. in Biochemistry and minor in Neuroscience. Navigating through college and applying to medical school as a first-gen college student as well as student athlete has instilled in me valuable characteristics headed by perseverance and hard work. As a two-sport collegiate athlete and being the President and VP of multiple clubs, I learned what it takes to be a leader in many settings — I will use this leadership in my journey to becoming a life-impacting MD.Having experience on medical mission trips using my Spanish proficiency in Guatemala and Costa Rica, to the communities I immersed myself in while studying abroad in London; these cultures have manufactured a unique perspective beyond the medical issues we encounter in the US. After the recent loss of one of the closest people to me in my life, someone who was my brother and a US Air Force Veteran, I have my sights set on more than an MD; I want to serve our country like he did, at the highest level. With that, I am exploring my options with the Navy, Army, and Air Force, looking into Special Ops and how I can apply my expertise to serve our great country and use my experience to better myself as a doctor.

   As a medical scribe, I work alongside physicians to document patient encounters in real time. I’ll be responsible for recording patient histories, physical exam findings, diagnostic results, and treatment plans. My role will help streamline workflow, reduce administrative burden for providers, and ensure high-quality, timely medical documentation.
