Employed as a shop trainer in the Ford Engineering Design Center. I operate the mills, lathes, CNCs, and other machines, including bandsaws, drill presses, laser cutters, sewing machines, and sheet-metal benders. I teach students at all levels how to manufacture and complete their own projects. I help freshmen with class projects and graduate students working on research projects. I have reached the highest training level for a shop trainer by demonstrating knowledge and expertise. My duties include:Conducting multiple training sessions each week on the lathe, mill and CNCs.In the first half of the quarter, I teach 6-8 hours weekly of training sessions on shop machines for the incoming engineering students. In the second half of the quarter, I help students directly with their engineering projects during my weekly shifts.Using machinery, glues, saws, and more to manufacture components for lab students and shop professionals as needed.
