ABOUT JACOB OLSON
Jacob Olson is a junior at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, pursuing dual degrees in Finance and Business Data Analytics, with an expected graduation in spring 2027. He has consistently demonstrated academic excellence, maintaining a 3.9 GPA and earning Dean’s List honors. Last summer, Jacob worked as an Electric Risk and Compliance Intern with Roseville Electric, where he gained hands-on experience in the energy and utility sector. In this role, he analyzed customer energy usage data using SQL and Power BI, developed dashboards to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities, and contributed to rate benchmarking efforts. He also gained exposure to energy markets by analyzing hedging strategies, contract structures, and credit risk policies, strengthening his understanding of how utilities manage price volatility and financial risk. This experience sparked a strong interest in the intersection of energy, finance, and operations. On campus, Jacob previously served as Vice President of Risk Management for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, where he led safety initiatives and promoted accountability among members. He is also involved in finance-related organizations, collaborating with peers to analyze markets and develop investment strategies. In addition to his academic and professional experience, Jacob operates his own landscaping business, where he has developed practical skills in financial planning, client relations, and operational management. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, hiking, and staying active. Jacob is passionate about building a career in the energy and finance space, where he can apply data-driven insights to support real-world decision-making and contribute to a rapidly evolving industry.
