About Jacob Martis

Equipped with a passion for problem solving and logical thinking, I have discovered a love for the actuary field and mathematics in general. Through this, I have learned to be independent yet thrive when working in a group by forming and maintaining relationships with those around me. I have put these attributes to action by helping form and serving on the Executive Board of Big Red Bags, a Registered Student Organization introduced in 2021. As Treasurer of this club, it requires me to use thorough communication skills with the university as well as organization and analytical skills to ensure all money and grants are handled efficiently. Also, by serving as the VP of Finance at Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, I have been concise and consistent through member due payment reviews, the writing and distributing of checks on behalf of the fraternity, and setting budgets for the next school year. This work has allowed me to build valuable relationships and improve my technical skills needed in the professional world such as strong computer skills, project management, and oral and written communication. I am looking forward to entering the actuary field and furthering my education experiences in the business sector.
