About Jacob Lombardo

I am a political science student at the University of Central Florida with a focus on public service, community organizing, and leadership development. My path began in Long Island and continued through Brevard County before finding its next chapter in Orange County when I enrolled at UCF in August 2024. Each move shaped my interest in civic engagement and deepened my belief that change begins at the local level through intentional and people centered leadership.At UCF, I have committed myself to roles that strengthen communities, support students, and expand civic participation. As a Resident Assistant in Lake Claire, I work daily to foster a safe and supportive environment for forty six residents. Through the LEAD Scholars Academy, both as a Student Leadership Assistant and as Associate Director for Leadership Week 2026, I help design programs that inspire growth and empower students to recognize their potential. My work reflects a strong commitment to building inclusive spaces where others feel seen and supported. My passion for politics is grounded in real organizing experience. I have served as a Democracy Summer Fellow with Congressman Maxwell Frost and later as a Fall Political Fellow with the Orange County Democratic Party, where I supported canvassing, phone banking, voter outreach, and community events across the county. These experiences taught me how to listen to voters, uplift local candidates, and support campaigns that strengthen democracy. They also affirmed my goal of building a long term career in public service. I am currently part of the Senior Scholars Program where I pursue graduate level political science coursework as an undergraduate. I also joined the Global Shapers Orlando Hub through the World Economic Forum where I work with young leaders on projects that address issues such as climate, equity, and democratic engagement. These opportunities push me to think critically about the challenges facing my community and prepare me to meet them with intention and clarity. I am driven by a belief that leadership is service and that effective organizing begins with humility, curiosity, and consistency. My goal is to continue building a career rooted in public service, community organizing, and the ongoing work of strengthening democracy in Florida and beyond.

1. Leadership Week Associate Director

   I was recently selected to serve as the Associate Director for Leadership Week at UCF, a student-led initiative within the LEAD Scholars Academy that promotes leadership development across campus. In this role, I will support the Executive Director in overseeing the Leadership Week Board and help ensure smooth communication and collaboration among members and partners.Anticipated Responsibilities: • Assist the Executive Director with planning and organizational duties • Take and distribute minutes for all Leadership Week Board meetings • Serve as a communication liaison between the Board and student leaders, including Peer Mentors, LSOC, and Scholar Holler • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment that supports board morale and productivity • Help coordinate training and transitions for future board leadership • Engage with student organizations to promote involvement in Leadership Week programmingI look forward to applying my leadership, communication, and organizational skills to support a successful and inclusive Leadership Week for the UCF community.
