ABOUT JACOB LANGLEY

Over the past 15+ years, I have built a solid reputation as the go-to Senior Drilling Engineer for helping upstream Oil & Gas companies grow their drilling programs from the ground up. Launching my career in Roustabout and LWD / MWD Field Engineer roles, I moved on to Drilling Engineer & Drilling / Completions Consultant roles, performing on-site onshore and offshore rig supervision in drilling / completion operations for various operators. I currently serve as Birch Resources\' Senior Drilling Engineer, where I manage 20+ drilling supervisors, contract directional drillers, and drilling superintendents while managing all permitting, reserve pit reclamation, rig supervision, and location design / construction for a 3-rig Permian drilling program. My hands-on leadership style prioritizes people over self-promotion, and I have appreciated working with companies like Birch Resources, Surge Energy America, Marathon Oil, Swift Energy, Baker Hughes, Apache Corporation, and Tana Exploration Company that value hardworking individuals willing to roll up their sleeves until the job is done. I not only guide teams to achieve best-in-class operations and safety standards, but I also lead by example – getting my hands dirty on-site from rig setup to tear down.In terms of my recent drilling performance with Birch Resources, my rigs are ranked in the top percentile based on a recent H&P performance report comparing my two rigs against the other 92 running across the whole Permian Basin. Some of my additional career impacts include: Organizing Drilling Teams: Built and led 20+ drilling / completions teams of drilling supervisors, contract directional drillers, and drilling superintendents as a Drilling Engineer for up to 5 simultaneous rigs, drilling both verticals MD / TVD) and horizontals (1.5 to 3-mile laterals on multi-well pads). Overhauling Drilling Programs: Launched Birch Resources’ drilling campaign as Senior Drilling Engineer from ground zero to above-average performance against industry peers, currently leading Midland Basin for days on well while drilling / casing 275+ horizontal and SWD wells to date (2018 to present). Optimizing Drilling Operations: Delivered drilling / completion operations since 2010 across New Mexico and West Texas (Permian & Midland: Sprayberry, Wolfcamp, Springer, Woodford, Eagle Ford & Haynesville), Louisiana (Hackberry & Wilcox), Oklahoma (SCOOP / Merge), and Gulf Coast (inland waters & offshore GOM).
