About Jacob Kelley
The truth has always been of paramount importance to me. I would have to agree with countless philosophers and theologians throughout the ages who have insisted that the most important question that can be asked about any claim is simply this: is it true? Whatever else can be said about a claim’s usefulness is secondary to whether or not it accurately reflects that which it describes. My enthrallment with both the natural sciences and the humanities, which began in childhood and persisted through college, is due largely to my love of the truth. I experienced similar excitement discovering empirical truths about the material universe in my math and physics courses as I did discussing questions regarding existence and ultimate meaning in my theology courses. This same desire to search for the truth lead to my interest in using mathematical tools to extract answers from data. Much like the disciplines of physics, mathematics, theology, and philosophy, data science is another tool that can be utilized to answer that all important question about a claim: is it true? Truth matters, and I want to be a part of bringing the truth to light in my work.
