Reservist Infantry soldier that has developed mental and physical resilience through arduous training. In addition to basic military skills, received project management, execution, and communication training throughout university with the Birmingham University Officer Training Corps. Have taken on management and leadership responsibilities upon transferring to 8th Battalion, The Rifles, a reserve light infantry battalion. Deployed to Kenya for operational readiness training on Ex Askari Storm from Sep 22 – Dec 22. Specific taskings included: Sep-22 – Dec-22: Deployed on Exercise Askari Storm as part of the 1 Rifles Battlegroup. Held command appointments leading infantry teams during the live-fire and blank fire phases of the exercise. Held role as the Platoon Commander’s assistant ensuring communication between all levels of command. Demonstrated problem solving and leadership in directing the building of the Company Terrain Model to allow higher level commanders to accurately make and deliver their plans for deliberate operations. On my own initiative delivered a presentation outlining emerging technology options that could be used for intelligence gathering that the Battlegroup could implement to find the opposition force during the exercise phase to the Battalion Intelligence Officer. Utilised organisational and IT skills to support the administration of the platoon. Jul-22 – Aug-22:Deployed on Op Unity (2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games Security). Managed civilian security teams, liaised between multiple stakeholders both military and civilian, and oversaw frontline security efforts. Delivered incident free Commonwealth Games and dealt with security threats at all levels. In addition to security responsibilities boosted British Army reputation among civilian population.
