ABOUT JACOB HYLE

Greetings, my name is Jacob Hyle; an experiential learner, young educator, and a person who wishes to change people\'s lives for the better. Currently, I am a Honors English Teacher at Henderson Collegiate High School, in Henderson, NC. With a mission to allow underprivileged students the access and ability to attend the college of their choice, Henderson Collegiate ranked as one of the top growth schools in all of North Carolina and has consistently smashed records since its inception. The mission of this school as a first role out of college resonated with me because I am a first-generation college student, graduating from Elon University in May of 2022. During my time there, I pursued a Bachelor\'s degree in the field of Adventure, Health, and Physical Education, focusing on Learning and Leadership, and how to make education as accessible and experiential as possible, because without experience, we as people cannot grow. Additionally I have pursued minors in Philosophy and Environmental Education. Prior to attending Elon University, I went to Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington, NC. From focusing on academic growth and success in high school, I aimed to carry that over into college, and I did, earning the right to be an Odyssey Scholar, an Honors Fellow, and a Lumen Prize winner (a research grant to further professional development and academic success). Though these awards were an honor to receive, they mean nothing if I do not take my experience and actually apply it. Therefore, in my career and future roles, I wish to bring the same work ethic and drive that I have aimed to display throughout my time in school. During my time in undergrad and my current position, I have always strived to embody hard work as a key focus, and always aiming to go above and beyond for the place I am committed to. I wish to continue to do that moving forward in a wide variety of different roles if needed! Outside of my career in experiential education, I also have a large passion for writing and creative opportunities. There were many experiences throughout college and my current role as an English teacher that has expanded my potential not only to be creative an educational sense, but when it comes to producing works such as writings, whether fiction, nonfiction, journalism, etc. If given an opportunity in a role such as this, I would strive to learn as quick as possible.
