ABOUT JACOB HOBBS
I was born with steel in my blood. I learned how to weld at 7 years old from my Dad, who at the time was a contract rig welder. From that moment of building my very own go-kart I was hooked. While playing golf was my passion along with my education throughout school I realized I found myself interested again in what my Dad was doing. He was no longer a contract rig welder but was now working for a local company Global Fabrication Services, who at the time was fabricating jack-up legs for off shore rigs. I asked my dad if I would be able to work for him there when I graduated high school in 2010-When I started at Global I was a helper, working to earn money to help pay for my upcoming tuition at Texas A&M my dad introduced me to the owner of the company, he told me that I could come back during any breaks I had and continue to work. I took him up on this continuing to work almost full time while in college full time. I met the Welding Engineer who was fresh out of college and he took me under his wing and mentored me through the background and science of welding-Global Fabrication Services hired me on full time after I graduated from A&M in 2014. I immediately took my CWI exam and began my career as a welding inspector for the same owner and his group of companies. A year and a half later our Quality manager resigned and I was offered the position which I jumped on. We became ISO 90••••08 certified a week later.what a week. I worked 2 years as a quality manager for Global. I got married to my beautiful wife during this time-Summer of 2018 there was a need for a position to be filled at Jackrabbit Steel for an operations manager. I wanted to get back into production very badly so I \"put my name in the hat\" and I was quickly transferred companies. I worked through busy and difficult times but it was all worth the experience and knowledge-Fast forward to now.my wife and I have been married almost 4 years. We have a beautiful and healthy 1 year old son and I have been given yet another opportunity by the same great owner to be the General Manager for Jackrabbit Steel Products.
