ABOUT JACOB HATHAWAY
Aerospace is my passion! I find joy in working with cutting edge technologies to make the world a better place. To me, if you can find something that makes you happy and gives you purpose, the hard work is easy!I graduated in May 2014 from Oklahoma State University with Bachelor’s degrees in both Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. In the following two years I obtained a Master’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) by successfully defending my Thesis project to a panel of University faculty members. In August of 2016, I completed an internship at Space Exploration Technologies that ultimately evolved into a full time position as a Propulsion Engineer. In this position, I was involved in the design/build/test of the M1D and Raptor rocket engines. Some of my major accomplishments include: • Design and analysis of critical space flight components for Merlin 1D and Raptor rocket engines. • Development and implementation of unique production techniques for reusable rocket engines. • Design of complex additive manufactured Raptor engine components.• Successfully leading projects vital to refurbishing engines on the world’s only orbital class reusable rocket.• Defense of my Master’s Thesis project to panel of PHD faculty engineers knowledgeable on the topic. Thesis paper was published following the defense. • Development of custom Autopilot for a Microgravity UAV. • Flight tests, Pre/Post flight briefings and test card execution for UAV test flights. • Conducting Undergraduate research in microgravity aboard NASA’s Weightless Wonder aircraft.
