The core meaning of a validation engineer is ensuring everything on-vehicle works as intended and, if it doesn\'t, breaks safely as intended, and if it doesn\'t do that, throwing up the flag to ensure it gets the attention it needs. Working on future vehicle models, I was focused on upcoming testing and validation builds. This meant managing and developing our test portfolio of 350 tests involving 1300 parts to be tested. These tests ranged from simple bolted joints to international certifications and high severity design requirements. Another important aspect of my job was focused on lean validation: doing 20% extra work strategically to yield 80% more results. This entailed designing component dynamometers from the ground up to improve repeatability and eliminate program risk, while continuously enhancing operations and systems to reduce waste.
