About Jacob Banit

I am a student at Duke University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Neuroscience, with a Minor in Finance. I am multi-national (American, British, Israeli) and educated in both the UK and the US. I am naturally entrepreneurial, creative and driven. In 2019, I founded Seedlings UK in London, a dialogue facilitation group for senior school students from diverse backgrounds. Through team building exercises, I facilitated free monthly seminars, and taught interpersonal resolution skills, featuring experts in conflict resolution, diversity and inclusion. That same year I swam across the Santa Catalina Channel to raise funds for Lewy Boday Dementia Association (LBD). I raised over through crowdfunding platform, exceeding my initial target by over 60% for an important cause. In the summer of 2021 I was a Researcher and Analyst for Alfanar, working remotely with the Middle East, for an organisation that builds sustainable social enterprises in the Arab World. With its motto to ‘educate, employ and empower’ my work supported their mission to turn social investment into sustainable impact. I am a member of Duke Tamid in Durham, where I attend weekly educational seminars on the fundamentals of consulting and finance, with a focus on investment banking, venture capital and Israeli start-ups. I am also a member of Duke Business Society. Additionally, I have completed courses in conflict resolution, negotiation, medication and international relations. I am an energetic, ambitious person who loves travel and sports and is passionate about human rights. I am a strong advocate for economic empowerment for all. I am interested in extending my professional network.
