Vision Engineering design, manufacture and distribute ergonomic microscopes, stereoscopes and 3D visualisation products globally.I drive the development of an advanced optical–mechanical medical product that assists early detection of neurological (brain) and ophthalmic (eye) diseases. The product is used similarly to a VR headset and measures the pupil’s response to visual stimuli which produced data that feeds AI-driven algorithms that pick up on markers that relate to different conditions. Key Responsibilities & Achievements:• Use structured New Product Introduction (NPI) process to lead the mechanical design of complex ergonomic products.• Collaborate closely using group design reviews with optical, electrical and software engineering teams, as well as external suppliers, toolmakers, and test houses, to progress conceptual rapid prototypes (FDM, SLS, SLA) through to validated pilot builds.• Conduct tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and advanced 3D CAD modelling (PTC Creo AAX and DDM) to ensure product reliability, accuracy, and cost efficiency.• DFMA for various manufacturing methods, mainly: injection moulding, vacuum forming and machining of polymers and metals.• Translate complex requirements from design studies and client meetings into manufacturable designs that meet medical (Class IIA) standards (EU and internal).• Deliver concept UI/UX designs for the device’s Graphical User Interface using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe XD, ensuring visual and functional alignment between Vision Engineering core products.• Use of Slack and Wrike to support the Senior Software and Mechanical Product Managers in coordinating project delivery against milestones and providing updates.• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and CE compliance files to support regulatory approval.• Support marketing department in design and updates of user guides translated into over 15 languages.
