Independently researching whether stream function responds differently to a large, catastrophic storm (Hurricane Helene) than it does traditional precipitation events.• Modeled in-stream gross primary production for the French Broad River and tributaries using R, including on a high-performance cluster using command line linuxInvestigated whether space-time patterns in watershed biogeochemistry could be predicted by key watershed characteristics in the Tennessee River Basin through team-based research.• Helped maintain almost 40 in-situ sensor sites.• Measured discharge, channel morphology, canopy cover, and other auxiliary aquatic metrics.Organized a synoptic sampling campaign at 54 sites and streams across a large urban watershed with eight participants.

ABOUT JACOB ADAMS

Jacob is a watershed biogeochemist and has most recently researched the effects of wildfire, permafrost thaw, and precipitation on in-stream processes in boreal regions while completing a Master of Science with the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Jacob continues to research stream metabolism and watershed biogeochemistry at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Post-Masters Intern. He is skilled at processing large datasets and conducting statistical analyses in R, using GIS to generate meaningful maps and geospatial analyses, as well as conducting work in the laboratory.
