ABOUT JACLYN JACKI ALESSIO
Since 2008, I\'ve been fortunate to work with a variety of populations in emergency shelters, community centers, residential treatment facilities & therapeutic group homes. I feel my areas of knowledge are both diversified and specific (LGBTQ, Immigration & Race Relations). Though my true passion is safety planning with survivors of Domestic Violence & Child Abuse, I enjoy the various tasks associated with vulnerable populations. Volunteering, working and identifying within the LGBTQ community as freed me. My career has unexpectedly led me to working with persons in recovery, those whom have disabilities, survivors of torture, public service, health care and above all resilience.(GRAD SCHOOL) I ambitiously pursued my MSW (5 years) from the UConn School of Social Work while working full time. I was enrolled FT, taking coursework in Administration. My first year field placement was with the Institute for Violence Prevention and Reduction. I had the honor of continuing my liaison role throughout the summer as a paid staff to the IVPR. I literally road tripped across the country visiting scholarly experts through 12 cities/13 days. My last internship was a Block Field Placement (35 hours/week) with Meriden-Wallingford Chrysalis Inc. The tasks I had been assigned included organizing the annual donation drive, authoring an ADA grant for $110k, and drafting statewide Model Policy intended to apply to all 18 Domestic Violence Programs. Specialties: Psychotherapy, Advocating (Marching-Written/Verbal Testimony), Safety Planning (Individual Client-Agencies\' Capital Structures), Public Speaking, Event Planning (i.e. Banquets, Concerts, Conferences, Fundraisers), Facilitating Meetings, Research (i.e. Editing Scholarly Publications, Literature Searches), Collaboration Building (Mediation-State-Wide Funders), Evaluating (Focus Groups-Forensic Interviewing), Data Tracking and Budget Management (i.e. Inventories, Group Travel).
