An obsession with theater, dance and the magic of live performance fuels my work. Every look I design comes along with its own character, each unique in this faerie tale-esque universe. I believe that garments have transformative power … the ability to elevate the wearer into their best version, this future self.In spring 2021, I opened my first showroom in Manhattan. Like a life-sized music box in the heart of the garment district, the Wiederhoeft showroom offers guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the magic of the collections. Our in-house bridal appointment is an intimate experience where celebrants can work directly with the designer to craft their story. ABOUT JACKSON WIEDERHOEFT
Launched in 2019 via an overdrawn story ballet, Wiederhoeft is a design house obsessed with theatre, dance, and the magic of live performance. Buffoonery! Bamboozlement! Mockery! These are the virtues and muses of the Wiederhoeft dreamscape… I’m a graduate of Parsons School of Design, where I won “Women’s Designer of the Year” in 2016 for my thesis collection, “The Dollies.” Pieces from this collection went on to be featured in publications like CR, V, and Vogue Hommes, worn by the likes of Rihanna, Aquaria, and Lil’ Kim. From there I went on to design for Thom Browne for three years, where my work focused on the women’s runway collections. These years provided an opportunity to hone my craft, gaining a complete understanding of the design and execution of couture-level garments. I presented my first collection, “Spooky Couture,” in October 2019, with a fashion-show-meets-ballet dance performance. The second show, “The Music Box,” was the first on-calendar presentation, which featured models wearing faerie wings and tutu skirts placed around a ballet performance, set at Spring Studios. My first bridal collection launched in July 2020. Before pursuing my fashion career full time, I also studied costume design, which included an apprenticeship at Houston’s Alley Theatre, and working for Broadway designers like Gregg Barnes and Susan Hilferty. Within my own work, every look comes along with its own character, each unique in this faerie tale-esque, overdrawn universe. The collections and shows are not only an opportunity to bring my own brand of buffoonery to life, but a chance to celebrate fashion within the context of live performance. In 2022, I was named one of 10 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalists.
