About Jackson Barber

I am a young professional with a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Florida State University. I specialize in politics and economics in the U.S, Europe, and the Middle East, with a specific focus on democratic institutions and political economy. My academic research has centered on democratic theory, with my graduate thesis analyzing instances of democratic backsliding to develop a broader theory of institutional fragility. My professional experiences include work on legislative policy tracking and economic analysis, with an emphasis on US foreign policy and trans-Atlantic economic exchanges. I have hands-on research experience in the countries of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia, studying the democratic transitions and obstacles to political pluralization in both countries. These projects led me to meet with government officials and civil society leaders to help draft reccomendations to help fight corruption and strengthen their institutions. I am actively seeking opportunities in the fields of political risk, policy analysis, political science research, and congressional affairs, so please reach out with any opportunities!

   Work to turn out voters in support of the Yes! campaign for redistricting in the state of Virginia- Use OpenVPB, VAN, and other campaign related software to sort and contact voters- Appeared in ads supporting the campaign, appearing across TV and digital platforms
