ABOUT JACK SEVERS
Jack advises on all aspects of patent protection, with particular expertise in protecting medical and health technologies, software and electrical devices. His work has a particular focus on supporting clients that are applying new advances in computing, AI and digital technologies to solving problems in healthcare, where he applies his understanding of the complex and shifting legal restrictions in this area.Jack works with a wide range of clients from ambitious individuals, university spin-outs and SMEs to multi-national corporations. However, he has particular experience working with high-growth start-ups in developing suitable IP strategies to provide the strongest early protection for their innovation, supporting their growth and fundraising.Jack has developed strong relationships across the UK start-up ecosystem and acts as an IP advisor to a number of accelerators, VCs and tech transfer departments across the UK. He also works with a number of investor clients to support their IP due diligence and this experience feeds back in to his advice to start-ups to ensure they are investment ready.A large portion of Jack’s work relates to contentious matters and he has significant experience representing clients before the Opposition Division and Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office, where he has a high success rate in defending his client’s granted patents and revoking their competitors’ patents.
