ABOUT JACQUELYN ZUKER

I\'m a VP of Security, Risk & Governance in the insurance sector, currently leading Cybersecurity, Corporate IT Services, Risk Governance, Data Governance, AI Governance, and Compliance at Upland Capital Group. My focus is helping high-growth organizations scale securely. translating complex risk into clear executive decisions and building the controls and platforms that enable speed without sacrificing resilience. Across my career, I\'ve been brought in to build and modernize security and data capabilities from the ground up, aligning them tightly to business outcomes. Recent work includes standing up and scaling a cybersecurity program and materially improving risk posture (with the help of an amazing team!), reducing medium and high-impact vulnerabilities by over 99%. I\'ve established an AI Governance program to stay ahead of emerging data and model risks. Earlier at Upland, I collaboratively led (with another amazing team!) the design and delivery of a modern enterprise data platform supporting a high-growth insurer, including measurable operational and financial outcomes: turnaround time reduced from 16 business hours to under 5 minutes,$350k cloud spend reduction in first 6 weeks, and a turn-around and course-correct of a multi-million dollar platform build which started under 3% employee usage to active usage by 70%+ of employees. Before Upland, I led Data Science, MLOps, Data Engineering, and ML Architecture functions in insurtech and insurance environments that worked to improve underwriting and claims decisioning. I love contributing to the broader community by serving as a nonprofit Board Director, leading the Reno Big Data and Brews organization, attending as a speaker at conferences and podcasts, and connecting students with internships and providing mentorship.
