About Jackie Vorhauer
As a kid, people always asked,\"What do you want to be when you grow up?\" There were two certainties. After a terrible experience volunteering at a nursing home, I knew I did not want to work with seniors, and for whatever reason, I did not want to work with children. Now, I laugh at teenage me. After the exhausting and heartbreaking experience of being a part of my mom\'s dementia journey and the exhausting and wonderful experience of parenthood, my current dream is to design, build, and run a Memory Care Village where children are an everyday fixture in the lives of people living with dementia. I never saw that coming! Now, I\'m figuring out how to combine my experiences into a hands-on role in creating healthy, fun spaces and joyous occasions for everyone involved in dementia care. Here are some things to know about me and how I bring various skills wherever I work.1. Having been unwillingly given membership into the dementia caregivers club, my eyes were opened to various issues we need to address immediately, such as family leave, pay for family caregivers, and how we radically change how we support all our seniors. Now, I volunteer with the Alzheimer\'s Association to help other families understand this journey and care for themselves. Please reach out if you ever want a friend in the world of dementia or need resources. I\'m here!2. I love thinking through how nonprofits can be more efficient. Thanks to more than fifteen years in production and storytelling, I am used to setting deadlines with budgets and still having to be resourceful to get high-quality results. This was a challenge in my nonprofit work where achievements were graded differently, and budgets often didn\'t exist. Every nonprofit can operate with equal parts compassion and business mindset for the most significant outcomes. I\'m always on board to help organizations be their best for their staff and those who participate in their programs. I get really excited when it comes to marketing and storytelling. It\'s always a joy to brainstorm how we tell stories to educate, engage, and activate supporters. Be it fundraising or general brand awareness. I get pumped when an issue needs clear messaging, so when we get on a soap box to advocate for critical change, people will listen and act.Yes, I have a myriad of life and work experiences. That\'s just a snippet. Each role plays a role in every job I do, so I do it well, in a timely fashion, and with passion. And, of course, I am still always looking for exciting consulting gigs where I can improve nonprofits.
