Most PMs discover user pain through research. I lived it for 7+ years. Now I build the tools that replace the manual work I used to do. Before I owned the product roadmap, I was managing $227M in hardware revenue, fighting through month-end close with manual reconciliation, and building workarounds because the tools didn\'t fit how ops actually worked. That background changes everything about how I build. I close discovery faster. I catch edge cases before engineering does. And I write requirements that reflect the messy reality of supply chain operations - not the clean version that shows up in a user interview. At Alarm.com, I\'ve executed hardware ops features and developed new workflows that cut month-end close time in half and reduced manual ops from 40+ hours a month to 8. I think a lot about the intersection of ops and product - where domain expertise accelerates shipping, and where the best requirements come from people who\'ve actually lived the problem. It\'s an underrated edge in B2B and internal tooling.
