Jackie Torrens is a freelance writer/actor/director/documentarian. Along with producer Jessica Brown, she is a co-partner in Peep Media Inc. Documentaries she has directed & written for CBC, the Documentary Channel, Bravofactual & Vision include Edge of East, My Week On Welfare, Small Town Show Biz: 2 Dreams From A Harbourtown, Free Reins, Radical Age and Bernie Langille Wants To Know What Happened To Bernie Langille, which premiered at Hot Docs 2022. Winner of WIFT-AT\'s Best Director, FINAIFF\'s Best Documentary, Lunenburg Doc\'s Best Filmmaker.\"Wonderfully original\"- POV Magazine Other projects include a lead role on Thom Fitzgerald\'s 3 season mini-series Sex and Violence (Cdn Screen Award & Actra nominee for Best Actress in a Drama). She won an Actra Best Supporting Actress award for her work in the feature film Across the Line & has been nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy (Actra) for her work on Andrea Dorfman\'s feature film Heartbeat. She has been a regular contributor and guest host for CBC Radio. Her radio documentaries include The Poet Laureate of Youth Now Radio (winner, Atlantic Journalism Award), Camp Mini Ha Ha (CBC Award of Excellence winner), What\'s Haunting You? & The Collector. Stage acting credits include Hamlet in Below the Salt\'s production at Neptune Theatre, Katurian in Martin McDonagh\'s The Pillowman, Jennifer/Lillian/Rachel in Morris Panych\'s 7 Stories, Liz from Daniel MacIvor\'s A Beautiful View & Lìl Molly in the gothic musical Haunted Hillbilly (SideMart Theatrical Grocery).
