ABOUT JACKIE SMITH
I am an Environmental Advisor for CalaChem Ltd, based in Grangemouth, Scotland. CalaChem Ltd treats bulk aqueous waste using an Activated Sludge Treatment process. My key job role includes the following- Management of SEPA PPC Permit- Supporting the ETP Technical and Operational Units- Auditing and managing Environmental Policies and Procedures on site; and- Providing key environmental improvements through the assessment of technically feasible options. Previous to my role at CalaChem Ltd, I was a Principal Consultant at WSP United Kingdom. I have assisted clients with Ofgem sustainability auditing under Renewable Obligation and environmental legal compliance audits. I have managed and undertaken a number of environmental permit variation applications for clients in the industrial sector. I worked at WSP South Africa for over 10 years\' prior to immigrating to Singapore and then to the UK. My background working in South Africa included environmental regulation compliance for a range of industrial sectors including the pulp and paper, sugar and petrochemical.
