About Jackie Bailey
As an abused child who had no voice, I have spent my adult life helping others find their own. I have created public speaking and leadership curriculum for children, teens, and adults. Through my nonprofit corporation I provide mentoring and instruction via weekly courses, workshops, and coaching. I\'ve taken some seemingly unrelated paths to get here. After graduating high school, I worked for a friend in Utah flipping motels. It involved painting, sheet-rocking, and general construction; but I enjoyed the transformation from run-down to remarkable. I then secured my own grants and loans, allowing me to attend school to become a dental assistant. I was living in Mesa, Arizona and hired by the dentists whom I\'d interned with. Ten years chair-side assisting, thirteen years in oral surgery; and seven years in dental office management, prepared me to open EMERALD CITY CONSULTING as a dental management coaching business. Dentists (like all small business owners) want higher profit. I knew how to make that happen - by improving communication. Making money in dentistry requires a team approach, although making a team does not happen overnight. Soft skills are a hard sell, and I struggled to make a living with just a few clients. In 2007 I went to the annual conference of SPEAKING CONSULTING NETWORK, which I\'d joined. Jeannie Robertson was the keynote speaker and I was amazed at her ability to make me laugh and cry in the same presentation. I asked her how she\'d learned that, and she suggested I join Toastmasters International. I found a club a mile from my home and joined. A few years later I was leading not just my club, but a district of 3500 members. I was training a team of 100 volunteers how to meet milestones; I was managing a large non-profit budget; and I was starting new non-profits from the ground up. The experience was unmatched. My voice is now heard by many. I found it, and I share it through verbal and written communication. I authored a book titled SELF-Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional. I am the curator of the SPEAK FEED LEAD Public Speaking Studio in Redmond, WA. and the founder of THE SPEAK FEED LEAD PROJECT nonprofit. Our mission is to transform all individuals to SPEAK with power, FEED others in word and deed, and LEAD with positive influence. We can help someone overcome social anxiety, risky behavior, shyness, etc. The Speak Feed Lead Project wants to connect with children, teens, and adults who are incarcerated, in foster care, victims of abuse and/or trafficking, or living in poverty.
