About Jack Dolan
Over the last 5 years, I\'ve enjoyed a career in software mostly in Technology Consulting for small start-ups (Omadi) to mid-size growth (Qualtrics) companies. In those 5 years, I\'ve also had small stints working in UX, ranging from developing workable prototypes as a Jr UX designer to conducting UX research on enterprise-level software platforms, and I\'m excited to take the next step in my UX journey to become a full-time UX designer. My experience working as a technology consultant can help me as a UX designer in many ways. CLIENT MANAGEMENT The experience I have interfacing with clients by trying to understand their needs and goals on a project are exactly like user interviews at the beginning of the User-Centered Design process, where we try to understand what a user\'s needs are around a specific problem so that the solution we design solves that. PROJECT MANAGEMENT The experience I have with project management and getting projects over the finish line can translate to getting design projects over the finish line and into the hands of developers. COMMUNICATION As a technology consultant, it was critical that I communicate clearly and effectively with my clients in regards to outstanding tasks that needed to be completed, impacts of certain decisions on other project milestones, and my recommendations for their success. This is critical to have as a UX designer to be able to communicate with cross-functional teams and outline the impact certain UX decisions will have on end users. EDUCATION Apart from my work experience, I\'ve also been active in pursuing more education by taking graduate level courses in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and I\'m currently enrolled in a UX bootcamp called Springboard to better hone and develop my design skills. Being curious, having a growth mindset, and being committed to learning are all valuable skills needed to be a successful UX designer, and are all skills I\'m currently exhibiting. I look forward to chatting about UX design opportunities! Key skills: UX research, UX design, Project Management, Design Thinking, Client Management
