About Jack Boncher
I’m a Solutions Builder and Sales Specialist focused on solving the “complexity problem” that surrounds bikes.Working at REI, I do more than just sell gear. I manage visual layouts, verify inventory levels, and manage stocking workflows to ensure a seamless experience for both customers and employees. As an employee in the outdoor goods industry, I am surrounded by the technicalities and subsequent difficulties for bikes. To solve pain points like fragmented brand information, confusing technical specs, and non-standard sizing, I bridge the gap between retail insights and technical solutions. My three current projects focus on solving different problems riders face. Together, these solutions aim to enable anyone to understand what the best bike for them is.To solve these pain points, I lead the strategy, design, and development of several platforms:• The Fireroads Project: A digital ecosystem for components, geometry, and standards to better understand bike design. • G.A.S. System: An initiative to standardize bike sizing across brands and disciplines to make comparison and purchase simple. • CycleBase: A repository of brands from across the world to make research faster. When creating platforms and solutions, I focus on:• Product & Service Design: Focusing on the user journey and creating solutions that make technical data accessible and understandable.• Operations & Project Management: Bringing projects to life while balancing technical development, product design, and content production.I’m passionate about building tools that make the outdoors more accessible. Whether it’s providing excellent service or architecting brand and information databases, I’m driven by the “why” behind the build.Let’s connect to stay updated, talk shop, or brainstorm solutions!
