ABOUT JACK SHAW

Architecture is a subject that has fascinated me from a young age and drives my passion and desire to inspire others, I strongly believe, it’s a profession more about people than buildings. Considering what we create and how it will be used by occupiers, wider communities, and future generations - are critical to a successful project. At whiteBOX I have worked on various residential projects, one-off bespoke commissions and multiple unit housing, including transformations of existing dwellings and design of new homes. The intimacy of a smaller practice has allowed me to gain first-hand experience working with clients to develop the initial concept and brief, through to the technical design stage, and up to completion. Alongside my current role, I have recently completed my RIBA Part studies with Distinction - demonstrating my proficiency, strength and understanding of practice and project management.Part time study alongside my roles at SRA Architects and etc Design, allowed me to develop my practical understanding in the workplace alongside creative university projects - this has made me a well-rounded designer. During my previous roles, I have worked on a wide range domestic and commercial projects at various stages. Gaining valuable experience and core skills, including using Revit to create drawings in collaboration with other consultants through BIM.I completed my masters (RIBA Part II) with Merit. My success was rewarded, winning the ‘Birmingham Architectural Association Award’ for “a strong idea that proposed an impactful change to tackle the climate emergency”, and short-listed for the faculty’s ‘Graduate Award’. My undergraduate studies included dual accreditation (RIBA Part I/CIBSE), which has provided me with a valuable insight and appreciation for the coordination between sustainable architecture and building services solutions.
